Before I turned 40, I’d only been to two countries outside the U.S. Taking the leap from never-traveled to international traveler was overwhelming, but learning to travel was—and continues to be—such an important and transformative experience.
But my “learn to travel” story wasn’t quite that simple. Nine months after selling my home to travel the world nomadically, COVID hit—then eight months later I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
